The World Wide Web is one of the primary ways in which The University of Alabama in Huntsville presents itself and communicates to various audiences. Therefore, it is essential that Web sites representing the university comprise a presence that is unified, of a high quality, and faithfully represents the university. The UAH Office of Web communications and the UAH Web Guide serve as resources for those who contribute in any way to the Web presence of The University of Alabama in Huntsville.

The University of Alabama in Huntsville comprises many academic, research, and associated units. Each of these units plays an important part in shaping the university's reputation as an internationally recognized institution. In turn, each unit's reputation and identity is shaped by its association with the university. However, an important distinction must be made between official and unofficial web sites.

Official University Web Sites

As defined in The University of Alabama in Huntsville World Wide Web Policy, " ... Web sites or Web pages created by University of Alabama in Huntsville entities including, but not limited to, its colleges, schools, departments, research centers, and administrative offices and purporting to represent The University of Alabama in Huntsville."

Unofficial University Web Sites

As defined in The University of Alabama in Huntsville World Wide Web Policy, " ... Web sites or Web pages created by University of Alabama in Huntsville entities including, but not limited to, individual university employees, faculty, staff, students, and student organizations to represent individuals, groups, or organizations."

The visual identity presented by the units of the university to our many audiences must reflect the strength that results from our collective association as The University of Alabama in Huntsville. Consistent, frequent, and appropriate use of our wordmark (logo) promotes instant recognition and a clear, unifying image.
